Shot over the 18 months leading up to Glass's 70th birthday celebration, director Scott Hicks (Shine)followed the composer across three continents-from his annual ride on the Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster to the world premiere of his new opera in Germany and in performance with a didgeridoo virtuoso in Australia-to create this remarkably intimate portrait of one of the greatest (and, at times, most controversial) artists of his era.
This film kicks off our winter cinema lounge, Larger than Life, a Thursday night documentary film series held in cozy Club B-10 which features finely detailed biographical sketches of artists and other public figures whose out sized work has fired the imagination.
See the film for just $5 when you buy a ticket to the Philip on Film event on Friday, January 16.
