Be part of the summer's most exciting event! With elegant dining, New York City Ballet performance, fireworks and dancing to live music under the stars, the Gala is an evening of magic and memories. Presented by the Action Council to benefit New York City Ballet's summer residency at SPAC.
The evening's performance opens with Stars and Stripes, an exuberant patriotic ballet (music by John Philip Sousa) that contains as much pure dancing as many full-length ballets and the evening concludes with one of New York City Ballet' sexiest performances, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue. The last time Slaughter was presented at SPAC was in 1991. You won't want to miss this incredible night!!
"The evening's most amazing performance came last, and its best moment in its finale. Have Maria Kowroski's beautiful legs and flowing hair ever been more sensational than as the Slaughter Striptease Girl? In the final sequence - in the Hoofer's arms, she plunges and arches, back and forth, violently and fast - her ardent stretch and blaze had the whole theater gasping." - Alastair Macaulay, New York Times, 2/13/09
