Faculty and student scholars will engage in a symposium exploring Sigmund Freud’s insights and impact in a variety of cultural contexts. Keynote speaker Sander Gilman, director of the Psychoanalytic Studies Program at Emory University, will deliver a public lecture at 8 p.m. titled “Electrotherapy Then and Now: Psychoanalysis and Contemporary Treatments in Psychiatry.” A cultural and literary historian, author and editor, Gilman is currently working on a biography of Freud.
